What is this?
I've booked out a large private venue at a brewery near the con for friends to enjoy on the first night of FWA. There will be a buffet style dinner of Southern BBQ and an Open Bar, including basic mixed drinks, wine, and 12 beers on tap. I'll put some music on, it'll be a good time. The venue fits 80 and I'm only looking to bring 20-30 people so it should be pretty spacious, they have pinball and darts. There will be pretzels.What's the price?
I'm subsidizing all the fixed costs of getting the venue and putting this on. I am suggesting a contribution of $100 to cover the per person costs of the food and the open bar. But if I'm inviting you to this it's because I want you there and if the price is any sort of obstacle, ignore it or contribute whatever you think is fair. I'm not going to be chasing anyone down for money.Can I invite friends?
For the first round of invites I'm prioritizing my own friends and select friends of close friends. Once they have a couple weeks to RSVP I expect to have a lot of free capacity and I'll let folks invite friends. If you have a partner and I forgot to invite them, oops my bad, please let me know and I'll fix that.Can I wear my fursuit?
YES, I have confirmed with the venue, they are cool and encouraging of it. The venue does have a large garage door that will be open so it's not perfect privacy, but if you're fine with that feel free to suit up. There will be food and drinks around so be careful. The venue also does not have air conditioning, but the big door will be open and they have big fans. I am not sure if there are changing facilities beyond the bathroom.When do I have to RSVP by?
The sooner you let me know, at least a probable commitment the better so I can hold space for you - if no one is going to show I need to cancel before too late. By one week out I need to give the venue a final head count for the sake of ordering food and drink, so please try your best not to cancel after that or to find someone to take your place if you do.Bird?
